Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Engineer to join our clean technology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical sales, with an understanding of clean technology solutions and their applications across different sectors. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for driving business growth through developing technical and commercial proposals, building strong relationships with clients, providing expert technical support as well as working closely with the Engineering department.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by providing expert technical advice, identifying opportunities for clean technology adoption, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Product Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, and competitive landscape to effectively communicate the value proposition of our solutions to potential customers.
Technical Support: Provide product technical support, including product demonstrations, training sessions, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure customer satisfaction.
Initial Sizing & Technical Evaluation: Conduct preliminary sizing calculations and technical evaluations for our turboexpander system based on customer requirements. Provide initial technical assessments to determine appropriate system size, capacity, and performance metrics for various applications.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations and Marketing, to provide customer feedback, market insights, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our clean technology offerings.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Preparing proposals
- Processing customer purchase orders
- Managing our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce)
- Continuously monitoring and sharing information on competitors to ensure Sapphire's offering maintains its competitive advantage
- Providing management team with relevant sales reports
- Driving customer-focused sales processes

- Computer Skills - Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is expected. Excellent communication skills are a necessity.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree – electrical, mechanical, industrial or chemical
- Minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience selling solutions to various industries within the same job
- Experience with application engineering or sales in a clean energy company
- Aptitude to learn technology from an application perspective
- Experience with application engineering or sales in a turbomachinery company
- Able to dig deep and ask the right questions to understand and categorize the true needs and wants of customers
- Able to identify the value of our technology for the customer’s process / equipment
- Experience with Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Persuasive and persistent
- Solid communication skills, written and oral
- Capable of conceptualizing and articulating problem statements and solutions internally and externally
